Dan Larson has spend the last 10 years promoting and marketing concerts and producing festivals in Florida. Dan has worked with with legendary artists such as Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, Ringo Starr, Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Zac Brown Band, The National, The Avett Brothers, Vampire Weekend, Wilco, Diplo, Skrillex, Bassnectar, and countless others.
While attending college at Brevard Community College, Dan started his career by writing a strongly worded email to the Executive Director of the King Center for the Performing Arts. He wanted to bring contemporary music to his college venue. Little did he know that email would turn to an internship, which would turn to a job, which turned to a career.
After graduating from BCC Dan attended the University of Florida before he was recruited to become the Marketing Manger for the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in North Florida. During his 4 and a half years at the Amphitheatre, he worked with Live Nation, AEG Live, Red Mountain Entertainment, and others to co-promote some of the biggest names in music. In addition to this, his team also produced the critically acclaimed Harvest of Hope Festival in 2009, and 2010, opened the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, nominated for multiple Pollstar Awards, and won multiple accolades in tourism from the University of North Florida, and The Folio Weekly.
In the spirit of Bill Graham, and many of the great promoters of the world, he wanted to dig deep into the world of club promotions where most of the greats got their start. While working of the Amphitheatre, Dan would promote concerts at Café 11 on St. Augustine Beach and eventually left his day job to opens his own 400 cap club called The Standard. Dan poured his blood sweat tears and talent into building the club, booking, marketing, operating and sometimes even running the soundboard. Dan booked artists such as Hundred Waters, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Ed Roland from Collective Soul, Le Castle Vania, Twin Sister, Run DMT, Less than Jake, The Original Wailers, The Supervillains, Fishbone, Todd Snider and more.
After selling the club, he was hired as the Programming Manager for the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando. Dan was a part of the team that opened the the half a billion dollar multi-venue theatre complex to much success. Booking the first year of programming including Jerry Seinfeld, John Mellencamp, Alton Brown, Diana Ross, Wait Wait, Don’t tell me, Harry Connick Jr, Bill Maher, Bob Dylan, Sarah McLachlan, Dave Chapelle, Jason Mraz among others.
In addition, for the past 7 years Dan worked in various capacities at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Starting as a volunteer, Dan worked with the sponsorship, marketing research and business develop teams as a liaison for various clients onsite. That’s where he met the Superfly Presents partners including FMF2015 Keynote Interview Jonathan Mayers and Superjam Producer Paul Peck. When he hear about Paul’s project in Florida he quit his job at the Dr. Phillips Center to become the first employee at Soundslinger, LLC, the company behind Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival. His roles at Soundslinger include Talent Buying, Marketing, HR, Business Development, and many others.
The Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival sold out in it’s first two years, and will return to Florida for many years to come.
